need help with tent design

Hi All,

New to MD and trying to see if I can build a realistic looking tent. I'm struggeling....
For some reason the tent fabric is interacting really poorly with the tent structure (imported as an avatar)
Any thoughts on what is causing this?

MD likes something substantial for the "avatar" and those tent poles are too thin. My suggestion would be to make something more substantial for the cloth sim, then replace it with the poles in the final render outside of MD.
